Junior Program
Pistol Shooting Queensland values the
importance of junior development in the sport of Pistol Shooting and
the need to promote, guide and provide opportunities to explore their
potential, and to strengthen bonds and friendship between all ages.
To assist in this development Pistol Shooting Queensland has a dedicated Junior Rookie
Squad (JRS) that provides the pathway for those aspiring to
become successful in their chosen events, with emphasis on the
International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) events and a particular
focus on the Olympic Pistol Disciplines.
The objective of JRS is to develop and promote ISSF pistol shooting to
all junior members and the community, particularly through the shooting
media and competitions. JRS will promote discipline and safety and
firearms handling including providing coordinated coaching, direction
and motivation through support and Squad Camps on behalf of Pistol Shooting Queensland.
JRS can also provide the pathway for qualification and inclusion to the
Queensland State Development Squad (QSDS), and within the QSDS
Guidelines, potential State Team representation.
Nomination to the Queensland Pistol Shooting Queensland JRS is on an annual basis.
